Plaza Street Re-Striped -- State Highway Department

Mr. Skeat Seaton, Plaza Street Barbershop, informed the mayor's office that when the street paving project was completed last fall, the lanes were not painted right. As a result, several of his customers' vehicles were damaged by cars side swiping the mirrors.

I wrote Mr. Ray Woodruff, District Engineer with Arkansas Highway Department and requested that he investigate the lane measurements. Mr. Woodruff complied and found that the lanes were inappropriate and needed to be corrected.

As a result of these actions, the Highway Department sent a crew down on Tuesday, April 29, 2008. The crew slept in our local hotels. Wednesday morning the crew went to work and corrected the problem.

We hope now that Mr. Seaton's customers no longer have to park straddled the roadway and sidewalk. We thank the Highway Department for its appropriate and timely response.

The photos below were taken by Mr. John Huff, Foreman with the City of Helena-West Helena's Sanitation Department.
