Officer Dale Acosta Involved in Fender Bender While In Pursuit

This afternoon, Dale Acosta, Officer with the Helena-West Helena Police Department was involved in a two (2) vehicle accident at the intersection of Plaza Street and Highway 49 (near the Boys and Girls Club -- Futurehome/ Old H & M Lumber Building). The details have not been fully revealed at yet. The Phillips County Sheriff's Department, Deputy Robert Wahls, is conducting an investigation and will be presenting a report with his findings.

It is, however, my understanding that Dale had his lights and sirens going and the driving of the other vehicle did not yield to the emergency vehicle. It is also my understanding that the accident was at a low rate of speed.

Officer Acosta went to the Emergency Room at Helena Regional Medical Center. After being checked out, Mr. Acosta, I am told, returned to work and rode along with another officer.

I am attaching the links to the photos of the vehicle taken with my Blackberry today.
