Salary and Results -- Is there a Connection?

In Sunday's edition of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the Forrest City School District was listed as one of the district's with some of the state's worst test scores on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills.  These scores occurred when the district was under the leadership of Lee Vent.  Vent has since been given a $107,000.00 (ONE HUNDRED SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS PER YEAR)($75.14 PER HOUR) contract by the Barton School Board.  That is more than the last Superintendent of the district was paid and comes in the face of Barton having in-house applicants that presided over efforts that resulted in higher test scores than those under Vent's leadership in the Forrest City School District.  This certainly reflects the decision making quality of the Barton School Board members. Perhaps with the addition of a new member, the judgment will be changed.

As to whether there is a connection between salary and results, it seems that one is not connected to the other on the facts as presented.
