KATV 7 DAYBREAK Central Cougar Pep Rally

This morning, during the early morning hours, Cougar fans all over town hit the snooze button for the last time and dawn the new day in RED AND BLUE. They then darted across town in a grand show of support for the Central High School Cougar Football team. This team is 9-0-1 and last week became the 5A East Conference Champions by defeating Batesville. Tonight, they take on the Sylvan Hills Bears (5-5) in the first round of the playoffs. To win an outright state championship, the Cougars must win tonight and  three (3) more games in the playoffs.

Should the Cougars win tonight, they will play again next Friday night at Cad Polk Stadium against the winner of the game between Siloam Springs and Little Rock Christian. Should the Cougars lose tonight, God Forbid, then the season is over. They are, however, the champions of the 5A East Conference and we are immensely proud of these accomplishments by these young men. This is the second straight year that the Cougars have earned the right to play in the post season playoffs.

The slideshow below is a picture of excite, support and gratitude. More than 450 people were in attendance this morning:

There will be a short fireworks show at the beginning of the game tonight. There will also be a special presentation made during halftime where the former players will be recognized.

See you at the ball game!
