Free Movies Around The Natural State

Rave Motion Pictures is having a Free Family Film Festival this month at the Little Rock
Rave Theater. All movies begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday and all are rated either G or PG.

Patriotic Fun

The Fort Smith Museum of History will offer a children's patriotic craft-making event on July 4 in Fort Smith. Children will be able to take their handmade craft home. An extra treat will be ice cream and a trolley ride. The event is open to children ages 6-12 and their parents.

Chefs of the Future

Looking for something for your child to do indoors during July? Discover if your young one is the next Emeril Lagasse or Julia Child by enrolling them in the Kids Cook at the River Market classes. Classes will be held on July 7, July 14 and July 21 in the Bill and Margaret Clark Room on the third floor of the River Market Hall in downtown Little Rock . The hands-on cooking classes for kids combine fun, eating and learning. There is an emphasis on skills, nutrition and self-confidence, with the objective of involving the entire family in the cooking process. You can register online by going to Classes are offered for ages 6 to 9 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; ages 9 to 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Film Workshops for Kids

Budding filmmakers will want to check out the 5th annual T Tauri Movie Camp scheduled in Batesville for July 13-26. Workshop topics include documentary filmmaking, narrative filmmaking, camera FUNdamentals, and animation. The workshops range from two to five days and will be held at various locations on the University of Arkansas Community College campus and the Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranch. Admission costs range from $40-75.

Showdown at Sunset

Showdown at Sunset will take place July 25 in El Dorado. The event is a historical reenactment of the legendary Marshal Tucker-Parnell Brothers gunfight that takes place on the steps of the ornate Union County Courthouse. The event features live music prior and actors are dressed in true-to-era costumes and shoot guns that look, sound and smell like the real thing. Everyone attending receives a free Showdown at Sunset trading card and the cast is available for pictures and autographs prior to and immediately following the Showdown. After the show, an outdoor Summer Concert Series takes place at Oil Heritage Park. If you miss this performance you can catch it on August 29 as well.

Day Camp Fun

Hey Mom and Dad! Do you want something for your child to do this summer that is both fun and full of activity? How about a day camp? The Little Gym in Little Rock offers a variety of day camp activities when school isn't in session. Try the "Anytime Summertime Kids Camp" where interactive themes add a dash of imagination to play. Each three-hour camp day is made up of fitness with a whole lot of fun thrown in: obstacle courses, arts, crafts, group activities, special events and snack time.
