Helena West Helena Police Department

S.R.T. Weekly Report

June 22, 2009 – June 26, 2009

      1. Sgt. Bivens worked with CID Detective Cox following up on an attempted robbery Sunday night on the Pizza Hut delivery man.

      2. Colonel Fielder and Sgt. Bivens worked at the firing range putting a top on the staging area to provide shade for offcers waiting to approach the firing line to qualify. Our qualifications are set for August ( during the hottest days of the year ).

      3. Colonel Fielder, Sgt. Covington, Sgt. Bivens and Detective Cox acted on a tip from a concerned citizen about a possible meth lab in operation in the woods behind his house. After walking the area, it looked like a lab might have been set up and was working. At the time of our investigations there was no lab found, but the area had been used for something recently that left vegatation dead and bare spots on the grounds. The concerned citizen was asked to keep calling when he thinks there is illegal activity and he assured us he would.

      4. Sgt. Bivens worked with Detective Cox investigating a burglary on Edgewood Street.

        Wants and Needs:

        1. A lightbar and siren for the Humm Vee. It might be possible to acquire thes from a non-use patrol unit.

        2. New shirts for the SRT members with our insignia so all members have shirts that match. These shirts can be made at The Latest Craze with our new insignia. These would only be made for members and the purchase made only by Colonel Fielder, this way only members will have these shirts and no one else can have them made to impersonate a member.

        3. It help in our nighttime activities if we had night vision goggles that can be worn on a headgear. These would be hands free and leave the wearer to handle his weapon if necessary and able to handle suspects as needed.

        Future Plans:

          1. We will be conducting classes and practical exercises in entry on houses with high risk situations.

          2. We will also have continueing classes on active shooter and meth labs.

Gas usage for Black Crown Victoria $0.00
