S.R.T. Weekly Report

July 11, 2009 – July 17, 2009



      1. Sgt. Bivens, Colonel Fielder, two SRT members and CID worked security for the Travis Davis feuneral Saturday as there was information that there might be trouble at the funeral. Colonel Fielder and Sgt. Bivens took watch at the cemetery while others watched over the procession at the funeral home. No incident was reported during the funeral.

      2. Sgt. Bivens worked a break-in Saturday at 1349 Clarianna Street at Frank Ross, Sr's residence. With the help of Cpl.Lams and Lt. Strotter, Mr. Ross's property was recovered and a suspect was arrested.

      3. Sgt. Bivens is currently working on an attempted robbery of the Mapco Express Sunday morning. Two suspects have been named and we are trying to locate. They are believed to be from Mississippi.

      4. Sgt. Bivens is also working a burglary on Beech Street where two revolvers were taken along with an Apple computer and assorted suit jackets and blazers.

      5. Sgt. Bivens is working with CID officers following up on drug arrests made while conducting a traffic stop. Drugs and weapons were found and arrests were made.

        Wants and Needs:

        1. Ballistic shields and helmets for team members safety during dynamic entries. We can possibly obtain these from the Army on the LESO plan. The shields will stop all small arms fire and some rifle rounds. We are still outgunned on the streets as the shooting on Ohio Street showed everyone.

        Future Plans:

          1. We will be conducting classes and practical exercises in entry on houses with high risk situations.

          2. We will also have continueing classes on active shooter and meth labs.
