Weekly Landfill Report

 

Department: Helena West Helena Regional Landfill

Specific Weekly Activities:

 

Employees Tommy, Carl, and Terry come in at 6:30am to start equipment and do daily maintenance; Donna comes in at 7:00am and turns on computer.

 

Once Tommy has the working face and road ready he lets Donna start sending trucks down. Donna weighs the trucks and sends the trucks to the cell. Once the truck has emptied the driver returns and is weighed. Donna prints a ticket and the driver comes in and signs the ticket, the driver receives a copy. Each truck goes through this process each time.  Donna also does random inspections on a daily basis. As the waste is placed in the cell the process of compacting begins. We start lunches at 10:00 am and go thru 12:00. After lunch we start placing dirt around the working face so we can cover. Trucks are allowed to enter landfill until 3:30pm. After the last truck is weighed out Donna begins adding tickets and balancing with the computer and printing reports.

 

Donna is usually finished by 4:00pm. After last truck leaves the operators finish compacting and covering. This normally takes about one and half hours. Each day someone checks the leachate pumps and tanks. We have part time help to take care of litter, grass, office, scales, and other task. We maintain a daily maintenance log on all equipment and make sure hourly maintenance is maintained.

 

We work during all weather conditions and wet weather adds to the over time. Most weather damage repair is done on Sat.

 

 

Future Activities:

 

1.     Work on drainage.

2.     Build clean-out pad.

3.     Working on erosion areas.

4.  Building road for wet weather area

5.     Quarterly gas report.

6.     Employee certification.

7.     Cell expansion bids going out week of July 13, 2009.

 

 

 

 

Activities Completed:

 

 

  1. Regular maintenance on Volvo and Dozers completed.
  2. Oil samples taken for analysis report.
  3. Weather road completed.
  4. Donna has passed her Class A certification.
  5. Tommy Amos is now a certified B operator.
  6.  Tonnage for week ending 7/17/09 was 775.53 
  7. Manager has obtained a Solid Waste Master license, level C.
  8. Sod has been placed on West slope.

 

 

 

Staff Concerns/ Issues;

 

1. Larry is still on Workers Comp leave.

2. Landfill has hired two new full time employees. Terry Falster and Carl        Young are the new operators.
