Hi Mayor,

September brings the anticipation of cooler weather, county fairs, great fishing, and an abundance of special events and festivals.  There's nothing that says Americana more than a small town or county fair. Keep reading to find out about a few of them taking place in September. The National Chuckwagon Races are always a highlight of Labor Day weekend. Competitive cooking has become a great spectator event and the Arkansas Hospitality Association provides two exciting opportunities. Maynard celebrates its pioneer heritage and the Museum of Automobiles on Petit Jean Mountain showcases automobile history.  A world-class traveling exhibition stops at the Arkansas Arts Center. Fishing spots, activities for motorcyclists, concerts by Dionne Warwick, Colin Raye and other major performers, plus a mixture of outdoor events ranging from disc golf championships to a stop by the LPGA tournament in Rogers highlight the month.

Fairs in Randolph and White counties, the National Championship Chuckwagon Races in Clinton, a celebration of the pioneer lifestyle in Maynard, a long-time arts and crafts festival at El Dorado and an opportunity to see which chef is crowned the best in the state are all on tap in September. Also scheduled are an antique auto show and rally of military vehicles on Petit Jean Mountain and Arkansas Delta festivals in Caldwell, Marianna, Marked Tree, and Newport. An extraordinary fine arts event pays a visit to the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock, which is one of only four locations on the North American continent to host "World of Pharaohs: Treasures of Egypt Revealed."

Keep On Reading!
