Helena West Helena Police Department

S.R.T. Weekly Report

August 17, 2009 – August 20, 2009

The SRT for the Helena West Helena Police Department conducted a saturation of areas in Helena . The areas covered were Walnut Street, Pecan Street, Cherry Street, Franklin Street and the Frank Frost – Short Mobile - Corner pocket areas. The activity for the area was very light. Officers patrolled the areas in vehicles because of inclement weather. Officers made contact with several people in these areas. We have been getting shots fired calls in these areas and complaints of loitering on street corners.

Officers also conducted several stops on persons walking and in vehicles in the area. The stops resulted in ten (10) citations issued and 1 felony arrest. The citations are as listed:

possession of firearms by certain persons and carrying a weapon arrests (1 felony, 1 misdemeanor)

1 failure to pay registration

1 no seat belt

1 disorderly conduct

4 loitering

2 curfew

1 contributing to the delinquency of a minor

1 arrest was made for a warrant out of Hot Springs County

The SRT members will be out again Friday the 21st in West Helena in the area of Coanza, Bonanza, Ladino and surrounding areas as needed for support for on duty Patrol Officers.

Saturday the 22nd, SRT members and CID members will provide security for the Funeral of Quanteria Smith. Security will be provided before, during and after the Funeral.

Sgt. Bivens is continuing efforts to rehab our firing range. Earnest Womack and Calvin from Street and Sanitation worked with Sgt. Bivens on removing debris from the range and clearing the sidewalks of dirt build up.

The response and participation of the officers that came out for the nights' duties was overwhelming. The officers acted professionally and accordingly to their duties.
