Today is Election Day in Phillips County, Arkansas. This election in for the purpose of renewing a tax that we have been paying for the past 20 years. What is different, however, is that each city: Elaine, Helena-West Helena, Lake View, Lexa and Marvell, as well as the County will receive more money under the new proposal than in previous years.

This money is currently being used to fund police officers, firefighters, the county jail, economic development activity and a host of other activities and services throughout Phillips County. This tax and its impact in larger than any single area or single issue in this county.

I urge you to go to the polls and prudently vote for the renewal of the county-wide one cent sales tax.
