SRT weekly report for November 22 - November 26, 2009

Special Response Team

Weekly Report

November 22 – November 26, 2009

On November 22, 2009, around 10:30 a.m. Capt. Vann called for the Special Response Team to respond to a barricaded suspect on North 11th Street in West Helena. Capt. Vann reported to the Team that a suspect had fired shots at a car and occupants and then ran into a house at 214 North 11th Street. After the SRT was briefed as to the situation, Capt. Vann ordered us to make entry and take the suspect into custody.

The armored Humm Vee was used by the Team to have cover to reach the front door of the residence. The SRT made entry without incident and took the suspect into custody, then searched for weapons, only ammunitions and clips were found at this time. The suspect was turned over to Capt. Vann with felony charges pending.

Wants and Needs:

There will come a time that we will be in the need for diversionary devices (flash bangs, breeching rounds for shotguns, gas grenades and other less lethal weapons), and we need to be trained in the use of these items. Sgt. Bivens is a certified instructor in less lethal weapons. We just need to order these devices and train with them. This was a good example of the  need for these devices.

Future plans:

We are going to continue training for an Active Shooter response and since the Wal-Mart threat we are discussing IED training. Train with flash bangs and gas.

"TRAIN LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW"

SHOP LOCALLY -- IT HELPS EVERYONE

Radio Ad mp3
Here's justification to spend more of your money locally and help your local economy and community to grow:

For every dollar spent in the community, the break down shows how much is
retained/re-circulated/reinvested in the community:

Big Box Retailer (Lowes, Wal-Mart, etc)= .06

Chain Store (Catos, Fred's, etc) = .20

Sole Proprietorship = .60

These stats are according to the Small Business Administration and passed
along through Main Street Arkansas.

Additionally, don't miss Kyle Miller's upcoming show, LOVE CAME DOWN AT CHRISTMAS. Dec. 18, 19, 20 at The Malco in Downtown Helena. Log on to www.kyletmiller.comfor information on upcoming shows, music, and events. The soundtrack for LOVE CAME DOWN AT CHRISTMAS is now available on iTunes.

THE DELTA CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE HELENA COMMUNITY CENTER ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2009 BETWEEN 5:00 P.M. AND 7:00 P.M.

One more thing, please read and share this: CHRISTMAS PARADE AND FESTIVAL ANNOUNCEMENT

HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND A GREAT CHRISTMAS!!!
