Apple today announced that AT&T is the 3G network provider in the U.S. for its newest device — the iPad.

"We have a great relationship with Apple and we are delighted they have announced AT&T as the 3G network provider for iPad in the U.S.," said Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO of AT&T Mobility & Consumer Markets. "We look forward to bringing the nation's most advanced mobile broadband experience to this exciting new device."

Apple also announced a Wi-Fi-only version of iPad.

AT&T's network has been leading the nation in smartphone mobile broadband usage for almost two years now. As a result of our leadership and expertise in this area, we offer the nation's most advanced mobile broadband experience today. Twice as many smartphone customers have chosen us and leading consumer electronics companies continue to name us as their network of choice for emerging devices.

We already offer the nation's fastest 3G network, and we'll continue to increase our network speeds throughout 2010 and 2011 in advance of broad availability of 4G networks and new devices. These efforts will further set us apart from the competition as the mobile broadband leader.
