Underwater Easter Egg Hunt

For a totally different Easter adventure, check out the Jacksonville Underwater Easter Egg Hunt April 3. Scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Jacksonville Community Center Pool, ages five to 10 can come take a plunge for prizes, including Splash Zone water park passes. The pool will be open until 5 p.m. after the hunt concludes. Pre-registration is required and admission is $5 for children and $3 for the accompanying parent.

Kayaking Day Trip

Paddle the shorelines of Lake Ouachita with a park interpreter as your guide during a Kayaking Day Trip April 3 in Mountain Pine at Lake Ouachita State Park. Experience the lake while learning about the history, geology and wildlife of the area. The cost is $30 and includes use of a kayak, paddle and lifejacket. No paddling experience is necessary. Space is limited and reservations are required.

Easter Egg Scramble

Don't be late to the Easter Egg Scramble on April 4 at Mammoth Spring State Park. More than 4,000 candy and prize-filled eggs will be hidden for kids ages 11 and younger to find. Bring your own basket. After hunt, enjoy visiting Mammoth Spring.

Fishing Lake Poinsett

April is a great time to get out and take the kids fishing! Lake Poinsett State Park in Harrisburg will host the 5th annual Kid's Fishing Derby on April 24. Kids ages 12 and under are invited to show off their fishing skills on a specially stocked portion of Lake Poinsett. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day. Kids will need to bring their own bait and tackle.
