SPECIFIC WEEKLY ACTIVITIES


MONDAY:
  • Attended DHM -- Leroy Parker, Parks & Recreation Department in charge. Major Scott was excused because of a conference in Fort Meyers Florida.
  • Ordered City Close 1/2 half on Friday before Labor and all day on Labor Day
  • Ordered that $300 stipend checks be made available on Friday, August 13, 2010 by 10:00 a.m.
  • Met with Office Staff
  • Advised West Hornor Motors regarding work on the Black Malibu
  • Approved the purchase of a used transmission for the Red Chevy Pick-up Truck for the Parks & Recreation Department
  • VISITED VARIOUS SITES FOR UPDATES ON WORK THAT HAS BEEN DONE.
  • Designated Evelyn Poole as being in charge of DHM for 8/9/2010
  • Signed POs for Landfill
  • Photographed East Helena Water Department
  • Checked completion of Monroe Street razing project
  • Worked on Rodney Green Issue

  • DIRECTED THAT SHRUBBERY BE REMOVED ALONG SPRINGDALE ROAD FROM A POINT EAST OF QUAPAW TO THE STOP AHEAD WARNING SIGN AND WEST TO THE INTERSECTION AT RIDGEMONT. THIS CUTTING SHOULD RAISE THE VISIBILITY VERTICALLY 22 FEET AND SOUTHWARDLY 15 FEET. FOLLOW UP INSPECTION MADE -- NO WORK DONE AT THIS TIME.
  • DISCUSSED GRANT INVOICE ISSUES WITH OFFICE MANAGER, CHIEF SECRETARY AND MAJOR SCOTT
  • SCHEDULED FOLLOW UP VISIT WITH POLICE CHIEF, OFFICE MANAGER AND DISPATCHER REGARDING TWO POSITIONS: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCATE/INVESTIGATOR AND DISPATCH CASHIER/CLERK
  • SPOKE VIA PHONE WITH MOTHER OF CANDIDATE FOR FIREFIGHTER POSITION -- WANTED AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROCESS AND PROGRESS (OR LACK THEREOF). FOLLOW UP REQUIRED.
  • OBSERVED POTENTIAL DRAINAGE PROBLEM ON QUAPAW TRAIL--FOLLOW UP REQUIRED
  • SIGNED POs FOR STREET 
  • Spoke with Dianne Norman, EAPPD, regarding grant agreement being prepare for our community.
  • Visited various railroad crossings; inspected work by City Street Department and Arkansas Midland Railroad Company



THURSDAY:`

  • DIRECTED THAT THE CLERK TAKE ACTION TO ADD JAY V. HOLLOWELL AS A SIGNATORY ON OUR CHECKING ACCOUNTS (STILL PENDING)
  • WORKED ON FIREFIGHTER AGE REQUIREMENT -- HAVE SOME OVER 18 BUT UNDER 21 WHO PASSED THE TEST. MUST DECIDE HOW TO PROCEED WITH THEM.
  • APPROVED PAYMENTS TO VARIOUS VENDORS
  • CHECKED STATUS ON THE REPAIR OF 1ST STREET NEAR THE MUNICIPAL BLDG AT 98 PLAZA STREET AND THE FLOOR IN THE OFFICE AT 98 PLAZA WHERE THE SEWER LINE HAD TO BE REPLACED. FLOOR HAS BEEN POURED IN OFFICE SPACE. NEEDS CARPETING REPLACED. No concrete could be poured today. The trucks were tied up in Elaine on a job.

  • MET WITH DEMETRIUS DESQUARE REGARDING FIRST STREET AND 98 PLAZA STREET CONCRETE WORK NEEDED.
  • Penned a letter of support to Governor Beebe for Mid-Delta Communication Services re: Transportation
  • Met with Hayward Tate regarding Verlyn Rogers property being razed
  • Met with Roy Lee Williams regarding bush hogging property and alley in 300 Block of South Coanza and Baringo. The weeds are about 10 feet tall in that area.
  • Spoke with Joe King, King Disposal re: moving roll-off container to 300 Block of South Baringo

  • Approved day off request from WB;

  • Received notice that purchasing agent is off work through 16th per doctor

  • Attended A & P Commission Meeting

  • Attended Historic District Commission Meeting

  • Attended Civil Service Hearing on Chris Manning

  • DIRECTED THAT THE KNUCKLEBOOM TRUCKS ASSIST WITH THE REMOVAL OF TREE SHRUBBERY ON PECAN NEAR WALKER LEVEE.
  • Dictated Letter to Rogers Word Service for Shirley Key Garner (Ascertaining Status)
  • RECEIVED NUMEROUS CALLS REGARDING COREY MATTHEWS | TEEN JOB SEARCH. TRIED TO REACH HIM AT 8708164015 TO NO AVAIL. WILL SEND POLICE OFFICERS MEET WITH COREY MATTHEWS SOON.
  • HIRED ONE CERTIFIED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER IN AN ADMINISTRATIVE CAPACITY PENDING CSC TESTING ON 16TH.
  • PHOTOGRAPHED VARIOUS CITY WORK SITES FOR WEB POSTING.
  • PICKED UP BLACK MALIBU FROM WEST HORNOR
  • Rescheduled Photo Opportunity for Departments within 226 Perry Street
  • Letter on Historic District Commission -- considering reducing the number of members. The commission is having a tough time making a quorum.
