What a said day for residents of Elaine. I was born and raised around the Elaine area and never, never did I expect to hear of such a thing from my hometown. This just a senseless thing to do to such a family that has been the cornerstone to the culture there in Elaine.

How sad that a son has lost his father and may lose his mother for a few dollars. My son went to school with there son years ago(over 25) and this little store was a staple in this community surviving when others have closed their doors. My heartfelt prayers go out to this family, community and for the lost soul of the assaliant.

Should not be a surprise. Phillips County has always had its own homegrown killers. Witness Sharon Lumpkin from Marvell who is back in the news with a new name - Shea Saenger. Her family is in Elaine now.
