Condolences to the Family of Mrs. Thelma Hammonds

I am saddened to announce that my childhood neighbor and elementary school teacher has passed away. Mrs. Hammonds was the mother of Phyllis and Adrian. She was the wife of Elton. 

Please include the good people in yours prayers as will I and my family do.

Resumed the dirt excavation at 1067 Arkansas Street

Removed packing cylinder on unit 29 and took to West Memphis

Picked up back hoe from golf course and returned to demolition

Picked up boxes from Sonic, Wendy's, Corner Market, Conoco Helena Crossing, Beech Crest, Central High and Food Pantry

Picked up carts from 210 North 7th

Delivered a cart to 304 Anderson

CRIMES AGAINST PROPERTY

Investigators are currently investigating 3- Residential Burglaries one of which was aggravated, and 4- Theft of Properties. There has been one person arrested in the aggravated robbery, Bernard Holbrook who is currently being held in The Phillips County Jail.

CRIMES AGAINST PERSONS

Investigators are currently investigating 1 alleged Terroristic Act, Aggravated Assault after a shooting incident in the area of the 300 blk. of Columbia Street where Damien Vann was shot along with one home in the area. There are no suspects in this case at this time.

Investigators are currently investigating the 1st Degree Murder of Colie Mills in the 200 blk. of Franklin Street. There has been a suspect arrested in this case, Antony Burns of Helena- West Helena who is currently being held in The Phillips County Jail.

NARCOTICS CRIMES

Investigators have made 3- drug arrests this week 1- Possession of controlled Substance Meth, 1- Possession of Controlled Substance Meth with Intent to Deliver, and seized a little over $3400.00 in cash. Arrested in these cases were Jo Turner, Sara K. King, and Richard Allen Jonker.

MISCELLENEOUS

Investigators are currently seeking leads and any info concerning the deaths of Keith Williams Jr. and Kerry Johnson.

The Investigations Division has been reduced from 5 to 3 Investigators within the last Month due to disciplinary actions and replacements for these individuals are vital to this division, department, and city.

Investigator Dennis Cox will be out July 08-14,2010 on vacation and will return July 15, 2010.

Investigator M. B. Thomas formally requested permanent reassignment to Patrol Division this week which has been granted.

Investigator C. Mansfield has been reassigned by Admin due to disciplinary actions.

Commander R. Covington will be attending BJA Rural Law Enforcement Training Conference July 13-14, 2010
