Breaking News Alert: Grand jury indicts former presidential candidate John Edwards

A federal grand jury has indicted two-time presidential candidate John Edwards over massive sums of money spent to keep his mistress in hiding during the peak of his 2008 campaign for the White House.

The case of USA v. Johnny Reid Edwards contains six counts, including conspiracy, four counts of illegal campaign contributions and one count of false statements. The indictment was returned in the Middle District of North Carolina on Friday.

Flags to be Flown at Haff-Staff

President Barack Obama has issued a proclamation directing that the U.S. flag be flown at half staff from sunrise until noon on Monday, May 30, 2011, on all buildings, grounds, and naval vessels throughout the United States and in all areas under its jurisdiction and control. The President also requests the people of the United States to display the flag at half staff from their homes for the customary period in honor of Memorial Day.
